Regular Fish Consumption Reduce the Risk of Blindness...

Eat fish once or twice a week can reduce the risk of blindness, according to a study.
Some research indicates that consuming omega-3 fatty acids, which most often found in oily fish such as salmon and tuna, may help prevent the onset of a condition resulting in decreased function of vision or 'age-related macular degeneration' (AMD) gradually.
They found that only with 1-2 servings of fish a week can reduce the risk of vision loss in older women by 42 percent, according to a new study.
These findings refine previous findings that showed similar results in men.
Author Dr. William Christen of Harvard Medical School, said that the dark meat fish most good to prevent this risk.
Are like reported by the Telegraph (14 / 3), he said, "Eat fish or canned tuna fish, dark meat seems to alleviate the risk of blindness."
More than 500,000 people in the UK suffer from AMD due to damage and death of cells of the macula, a part of the retina that is used to look straight ahead.
The disease is apt to occur mainly in people aged over 40 years, depriving their vision by forming a black spot at the center of their vision that will slowly expand.
With so many people with AMD who can reach triple in the next 25 years, it is immediately needed a new breakthrough to prevent it.
The team from Harvard Medical School is back doing another study involving over 38,000 women to obtain discovery.
All participants at the start of the study free of AMD.
The questioner is given time to assess the eating habits of the participants, including how much omega-3 fatty asthma consumed each woman.
During the period of more than 10 years, the women's eye health in carefully with a special focus on AMD.
A total of 235 female participants makulanya developments degenerate
Women who consumed one or more servings of fish a week, two-fifths or 42 percent less likely to develop the condition than those with less than one serving of fish per month.
The results showed that women who ate omega-3 fatty acids found in most fish have a lower risk of AMD nearly two-fifths or 38 percent compared with those who consumed little fish.
Omega 3, which is commonly found in foods are eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) can also be found in supplement form.

"In summary, prospective data from a large population of women previously diagnosed with AMD do not experience shows that regular consumption of DHA and EPA as well as fish, can significantly reduce the risk of AMD," says a study published in the journal Archives of Ophthalmology.
Because omega-6 fatty acids, lenoleatnya acid content is higher but less arachidonic acid, it can increase the risk of age-related macular degeneration, but this relationship is not significant for other risk factors and fat. (Erabaru / Telegraph / voice)
